Busy, busy week here in Suffield, Connecticut. Lots of sunshine and balmy temperatures provided ideal conditions for doing spring clean up and yard work that the chickens were happy to help with. Please enjoy the photos!
There are currently three broody hens in the flock. The hens who have proven to be good mothers will be given fertile eggs to hatch.
Mr. Chicken Chick installed the mailbox he made for me in February for my birthday. I love it and it’s a nice clean spot to set down the egg basket while puttering around the chicken yard.

I've seen this style of waterer advertised, and they look much cleaner than other types.
My chickens are on order, should be arriving in early June (gives us time to get schoolwork finished up, and the coop in tip top shape). I can hardly wait!

I would love this! :) Also do you have roosters with your hens? And if so do they mix breeds and if not how do you keep them separate? I'm about to have 2 different breeds and will have roosters since I want more babies but I am wondering if I can let them run around together or do they need to be in separate pins.
