It was a difficult week here at Blazing Trails Farm with the unexpected passing of Brutus, my six month old Mille Fleur Serama cockerel. He had a special place in my heart I am thankful for the time I had to appreciate his beauty, confidence and spunk while he was here. He was a joy to photograph and I have chosen to celebrate his life by continuing to share his larger-than-life personality through them. RIP little buddy.

This is how Brutus would have wanted to be remembered. ☺ I know Brutus would have been thrilled to know that his necropsy report noted his “well developed testicles.”  Atta boy, Brutus.

This immediately made me think of d-con :( We lost a small dog a year ago who accidentally ingested some during a move. I found this a few minutes ago:

so so sad for the loss of Brutus. He was a beautiful boy! I have a question…is it ok to have 2 roosters, is there a certain number of hens to have to accommadate 2 roos? A neighbor just lost all her chickens to a neighbor dog and one rooster survived but is now all alone. I don't want to take him if my Mr.Roo is going to be completely put off by the new addition to the flock. Thanks for sharing!

So what could have caused that bleeding?

his lungs hemorrhaged by themselves or did the neighbor kick him? or is it viral and our other babies are at risk?
