This week has been rooster-centric for some reason. I’ve taken more than a few frame-worth shots of Blaze, Caesar and the P. Allen Smith roolets and wrote an article I have long intended to write on chicken mating. Rooster reproductive anatomy became a shocking subject of conversation at my sister’s house during Easter dinner (don’t ask) and I knew that if my family had such confusion over and questions about chicken sex, lots of others probably did too! If you missed that article, feel free to catch up with it here! Beyond that, the weather has been perfect for anything outdoors and I hope you enjoy some of the photos I shot while taking advantage of it!
Freida, my only Silkie, has been broody and sitting on these eggs since this photo was taken on June 9th- the eggs should hatch on or about Monday!

I never win anything but I still will keep trying :-) Thanks for offering these prizes
Would love to win! My girls need a little help in their get-a-long. They've been slow giving us eggs lately.
I cant wait to see how beautiful my chickens will be. They are just too cute right now. I have a while before they start laying but Im patiently waiting…lol..Thanks again!
I love your blog! We just purchased an old farmhouse and it has a great chicken coop. I've been going back through your posts and reading up on raising chickens. I plan on doing my research this year and get chicks next season.
Happy to get in the drawing! That sign is adorable, and who couldn't use egg making feed?
