I contacted Grandpa's Feeders about my squirrel problem and they said that squirrels are a grey area because they can weigh as much as a chicken and could possibly weigh enough to get into the feeders. They said they hadn't had the chance to test the feeders with squirrels because they don't have them in NZ. They suggested purchasing the largest feeder which requires more weight to open it, but also said that it wouldn't work if I had bantams. this is really cool but what about the bitty chickens guess they only eat when they have a larger friend at the feeder? And what if the larger friend steps away is the lid light enough not to crush a smaller bird? would love to won one of these.
Love your post. I find them very helpful. I just started this chicken thing a year ago. It started out as a way to help with the bugs. I live in the country. After getting them they became like everything else around here PETS!. What started out as 5 has now grown into 21.
