Flock Focus Friday, 11/8/13

This week was busy as I worked on finishing up two magazine articles, but it was a bit of a challenge with one of my girls (human child, that is) home sick. She’s fine, but I’m a little bit behind. Such is the life of a self-employed, work-from-home mom. :)

Blaze (Black Copper Marans rooster) is a very involved dad to his gaggle of babies and now spends a good portion of his day chasing his son, Sparky, away from the ladies.

The feathered babies worked on getting bigger and with unusually mild temperatures for November in New England, they got to spend quite a bit of time outside, learning the foraging ropes from their moms.

Iris’ chicks are getting big, this little Black Copper Marans chick was practicing its roosting skills.

This week’s unpredictable weather provided ample opportunities for some colorful photos.

Would love to win the egg cartons. In desperate need of some since many I sell to don't return the cartons. I should have taken a picture a few weeks ago – one of our girls laid the largest egg I have ever seen. It went right off the scale on my egg scale. When we cracked it open, there were two very large yolks! Love the info you share – very helpful.
