Busy, busy week here in Suffield, Connecticut. Lots of sunshine and balmy temperatures provided ideal conditions for doing spring clean up and yard work that the chickens were happy to help with. Please enjoy the photos!
There are currently three broody hens in the flock. The hens who have proven to be good mothers will be given fertile eggs to hatch.
Mr. Chicken Chick installed the mailbox he made for me in February for my birthday. I love it and it’s a nice clean spot to set down the egg basket while puttering around the chicken yard.

Great idea with the hardware cloth, I'll have to try it. My girls scoff at my trying to deter with shells and such. They get buried in the onslaught! lol!!
We could really use a few water bucket systems for the ladies up and coming new digs ^^
First?! I couldn't comment on you trip to the farm but u looked amazing! ! Thanks for sharing!
I would LOVE to win the Hen Hydrator Waterer!
The Hen Hydrator waterer looks like a neat thing to have. I'd love to have one and see if my girls would like it.
Hey Kathy! I just wanted to say that I enjoy reading your Flock Focus Friday postings but what I love most is the assortment of chickens that you have! I am a newbie to backyard chickens and I currently have a white silkie that I hatched three months ago. Do you have any hints or tips on how to tell if its a hen or rooster? Or do I have to wait?
Plus, I would LOVE to have this waterer for my other two hens!
