Busy, busy week here in Suffield, Connecticut. Lots of sunshine and balmy temperatures provided ideal conditions for doing spring clean up and yard work that the chickens were happy to help with. Please enjoy the photos!
There are currently three broody hens in the flock. The hens who have proven to be good mothers will be given fertile eggs to hatch.
Mr. Chicken Chick installed the mailbox he made for me in February for my birthday. I love it and it’s a nice clean spot to set down the egg basket while puttering around the chicken yard.

Ameraucana/Easter Egger article very interesting! Now to see when our baby chicks grow up, which I bought at a local feed store, which they actually are!
this seems like a great way to keep our girl's water. It's a constant issue with raising chickens…dirty water. You can raise up the waterer but they still get the water dirty. Love the website and all of the great information!
My Jersey Giants would love this!
Love your info and pics!
I have one of these waterers, set up in the chick pen. They use it very well, but the little silkies need a brick to stand on to reach the nipple. I had to resort to giving them water in one of the small flip waterers as Topaz nearly died on dehydration. Fortunately, I caught it in time and pulled her back with a hit of electrolytes and loads of water.
Good luck to whoever wins!
Cheers,
