Flock Focus Friday, featuring an invitation to P. Allen Smith's Garden Home Retreat

The trip of a lifetime to Little Rock Arkansas combined with a most inconvenient stomach flu 24 hours prior to my flight meant that I didn’t have time to prepare a Flock Focus Friday for you last week- you’ll forgive me though, right? I was invited to attend P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home Retreat to be the guest reporter for him at his Poultry Workshop, which was an honor indeed! I knew that I would be filming television and radio segments with Allen the day before the workshop, but I didn’t realize that I was going to be the only chicken blogger/writer in attendance that weekend- holy pressure, Batman! I had the time of my life and can’t wait to share the scoop with you. I have been catching up on work and fielding new offers and opportunities all week, but I promise to share more details about my trip very soon!

My chicken compound in Connecticut was a flooded mess this week — Back to the coal mines on Monday. :) The torrential rain created flooding in many parts of Connecticut, including my chicken yard.

We no sooner bailed the water out of the chicken run than it began to snow. — The rain and flooding was just the start of the weather fun this week as Mother Nature reminded us how quickly things can change in New England in April. Snow. Seriously?!

What a difference a day makes! The snow quickly melted the next day and Caesar stood guard over the backyard while Mr. Chicken Chick built some new droppings boards for the coops!

I am a lifetime commitment, I am NOT a basket filler. I deserve a forever home & people who are prepared to care for me properly.

The "May flowers" better be SPECTACULAR.

Followed you throughout your trip and loved every picture. With the 56 chicks I will have
added by mid May this kit would probably come in handy at one time or another. Thanks for all you do for everyone who subscribes to your FB page and your Blog.

I have been working towards a more natural approach to care for my flock. All your informative posts have been great. This prize would just add another bonus to my healthy HAPPY hobby farm.
