This installment of Flock Focus Friday is brought to you on Tuesday because after announcing on my Facebook page that my town is suing me for the removal of my chickens, the media got wind of it and have been bogged down with interviews and inquiries ever since. While I am happy to finally get the word out, it has been a time drain. Here’s the scoop in case you missed it on Facebook last week: My town has sued me for the removal of chickens from my backyard & while I am confident in my legal strategy, this 5 year battle fueled by my neighbor has become extremely costly. If I have helped you keep chickens or given you a reason to smile on occasion, please consider a donation of any size to “Operation Home to Roost.” Without my chickens I would have no blog or Facebook page & could not continue to bring you the experiences, photos, information & chicken-related entertainment you have become accustomed to seeing from me.

Questions about the character of my yard, neighborhood and town are answered with this link to Google Street Maps where You can see my property, (it has the kids’ white playhouse/swingset in the backyard) the complaining neighbor’s house to the right of it and drive around town to check out all the farms, horses and chickens!

The argument I made to my town’s zoning commission can be seen and heard in this YouTube video.

I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.

We have been enjoying spectacular weather this week, interrupted only briefly by a few passing rain showers. The eagerly awaited  dahlias, gladiolas and zinnias are in full bloom at the farm up the street and I stop whenever possible to purchase a dozen. I hope you enjoy the photos from last week!

Participation in Mondays should be optional
Really, Mother Nature? REALLY?!
Guess what day it is?
Some days you make the coffee, some days the coffee makes you.
Is it Friday yet?
Dear Monday, you had better thank coffee for its existence.
It has been one of those days.
Coffee has given me unrealistic expectations of productivity.
My soul? I sold it to make more room for coffee.
