Quoting Mark Twain, “If you don’t like the weather in New England, just wait a few minutes.” Temperatures this week ranged from triple digit highs to lows in the 50s, nutty even by New England standards.
My flock ordinarily free-ranges, but with temperatures in triple digits, I kept them confined to the run for because it’s cooler than walking around in the sun. The run has everything they need: The Chicken Fountain serving up cold, fresh water, the mister providing 15-20°F lower temps, Grandpa’s Feeder for convenient access to food and plenty of cool, sand for dust-bathing.
Blaze’s recovery continues as twice daily I pack his wattle and earlobe with antibiotic-soaked gauze. Barbie was supervising this particular day. ☺
Brutus & Portia (Seramas) have discovered one another, Portia having hatched a few months later than Brutus.

I've been researching chicken waterers for awhile now & pretty much try to do everything you suggest. As far as I'm concerned you're the chicken expert! So I would love to win the Chicken Fountain.
Still trying to get my girls to try the nipple waterer – I have put small chunks of apple on the tips to encourage them to drink. They sneak in and snatch the apple chunks, but won't investigate any further…
I don't remember if I wrote anything for this one, I(chickens) could really use this waterer, I have to take jugs of water out everyday plus their feed and it is very hard for me with my arthiritus , this would be Great !!!
Kathy, I love your pictures and all of the information you share with us all. I have only had my girls for a year and a half and am always looking for new and exciting ways to make them more comfortable. The Chicken Fountain would be a great new add-on to their home. :)
