This week has been rooster-centric for some reason. I’ve taken more than a few frame-worth shots of Blaze, Caesar and the P. Allen Smith roolets and wrote an article I have long intended to write on chicken mating. Rooster reproductive anatomy became a shocking subject of conversation at my sister’s house during Easter dinner (don’t ask) and I knew that if my family had such confusion over and questions about chicken sex, lots of others probably did too! If you missed that article, feel free to catch up with it here! Beyond that, the weather has been perfect for anything outdoors and I hope you enjoy some of the photos I shot while taking advantage of it!
Freida, my only Silkie, has been broody and sitting on these eggs since this photo was taken on June 9th- the eggs should hatch on or about Monday!

Love this!!!!
Love to win!
Switching my first flock from grower to layer feed later this month and was wondering what I should try. I'll go for the Omega Egg Maker now. Thanks again, Kathy, for all the great info and for all the time you put into your site.
Love the chicken captions made me laugh
Love this site! I hatched out chickens in my 4th grade classroom this spring & naturally, we now have a nice flock here at my home! I use this site regularly for lots of helpful info. Love the Chicken Chick!?
