This week has been rooster-centric for some reason. I’ve taken more than a few frame-worth shots of Blaze, Caesar and the P. Allen Smith roolets and wrote an article I have long intended to write on chicken mating. Rooster reproductive anatomy became a shocking subject of conversation at my sister’s house during Easter dinner (don’t ask) and I knew that if my family had such confusion over and questions about chicken sex, lots of others probably did too! Beyond that, the weather has been perfect for anything outdoors and I hope you enjoy some of the photos I shot while taking advantage of it!

Freida, my only Silkie, has been broody and sitting on these eggs since this photo was taken on June 9th- the eggs should hatch on or about Monday!

Whatever is good for the girls & benefits enriching eggs…bring it on naturally!!!
I love this stuff! I add it to the pellets in a big tub and then moisten it because my ladies tend to like their food wet.
I would try this. I have buff orpingtons and barred rocks. Wonder if my quails could use this?
