The chicks I hatched from P. Allen Smith‘s flock are getting big- almost too big for their adopted mom to accommodate underneath her, but they are blissfully unaware of it and she remains very patient with them. She and her little ones feature prominently in this week’s Flock Focus Friday- they’re just too photogenic to resist!
Despite being less than half their size, this Silver Spangled Hamburg chick holds her own with the two slightly older P. Allen Smith grandchicks that ellen deHeneres rejected. All three of them were moved from my office to the big coop this week!

Thank you for all the great info!
Wow, almost too tired to enter a fabulous Chicken Chick contest! All 46 of my chickens, 3 goats & 4 pigs as well as the gardens are keeping me super busy. Your ellen deHeneres jokes are about the only things keeping me going!
This is my first year raising hens. I love them!! But I hate the nasty water and the food dumping! Why do they insist on pooping in the water??
Isn't it interesting to just sit and watch the social situation of a flock? I've spent a lot of my time doing this! Love the "your daily Rachel" posts especially!
The Aqua Miser would really be good for my girls. Their water is always getting dirty and I have to scrub the waterer out every day!
