Here in Northern Connecticut, we have had an unusually snow-free winter, for which my flock and I are tremendously grateful. My little bantam blue Orpington went broody during our colder CA weather 45d in the day and -30d at night. She hatch two babies, but one was not developed correctly and died within 4 days. It’s vent was extremely extended. I figured she didn’t keep the egg warm enough During development. I’ve always hatched eggs this time of year, girls have never gone broody before. It’s always been Spring, so this was new to me. Anyone else encounter this issue?
I’ve never even heard of this! How exciting!!
I would love this for my girls! Crazy weather here too. Treating some of my girls for colds.
