The flock made the best of it this week as temperatures rose just enough to cause flooding, then plummeted to record-breaking lows. Someone tell me spring is just around the corner?

There was flooding outside the coop, but the sand was mighty fine for dust bathing!

Not everyone had the luxury of a dust bath, however. Bertha, our new Partridge Cochin who is still in quarantine, needed a good ol’ water bath. She doesn’t look like she enjoyed it, but trust me, she did!

The Snow Trail to nowhere.
There has been enough togetherness for the flock this winter and they’re looking forward to getting more distance in between them, that is, if the snow ever goes away.
Mr. Chicken Chick helped me dig out around the coops a bit so that the run didn’t flood when the snow melted.
Iris (Olive Egger hen) has been taking posing pointers from Rachel.
Despite the miserable conditions outside, the ladies are producing eggs like champs!

Well Spring isn't coming anytime soon. The snow is already coming down again and the long range forecast says snow again in 12 days. My girls are going stir crazy so I've been giving them a head of lettuce a day to keep them occupied. They're still laying regularly so I could use that basket.

I love your blog. I had chickens growing up, and have been raising them with my children. My daughters love them, and are waiting for a little less snow (and possibly some warmth) to get new chicks this year. We are not had luck with roosters, the two we had were very mean to my daughters. So, we buy chicks.
