The flock made the best of it this week as temperatures rose just enough to cause flooding, then plummeted to record-breaking lows. Someone tell me spring is just around the corner?

There was flooding outside the coop, but the sand was mighty fine for dust bathing!

Not everyone had the luxury of a dust bath, however. Bertha, our new Partridge Cochin who is still in quarantine, needed a good ol’ water bath. She doesn’t look like she enjoyed it, but trust me, she did!

There has been enough togetherness for the flock this winter and they’re looking forward to getting more distance in between them, that is, if the snow ever goes away.
Digging out the snow around the chicken coop.
Mr. Chicken Chick helped me dig out around the coops a bit so that the run didn’t flood when the snow melted.
Speckled Sussex and Marans hens.
Iris (Olive Egger hen) has been taking posing pointers from Rachel.
Basket of Eggs
Despite the miserable conditions outside, the ladies are producing eggs like champs!

Hello Chicken Chick and family, AND flock! :) The basket is über cute! I was looking through all the above pics and had to giggle a bit. We have been waiting and waiting for more and more rain and snow here in Northern Cali!! We've been in a drought and even though we finally got a couple good storms, we need MUCH more. I'm sure you all are ready for the sun, though! Thanks for keeping it real with all your posts and amazing info about chickens.
