Snow and cold. That’s all I can say about this week. It has gotten old, folks. Blaze is in the basement with a frostbite related comb injury, which means Sparky is taking care of the ladies- a job he rather enjoys. Sparky’s holding down the fort for The Big Dawg and even though he has a little frostbite, he seems to be healing more quickly than his dad, Blaze (both Black Copper Marans). Youth is likely to thank for that.
Ally McBeak (Tolbunt Polish Frizzle) found a warmish rock to occupy out of the wind. The flock only got about an hour of free-range time each day this week due to the crazy cold temperatures.

A Brinsea incubator wow. Love it! wouldn't it be nice to hatch out some of my own chickies this spring….Tried to use a borrowed incubator and out of 15 eggs, only 3 hatched.

I read every word that you post…. and with your offer to give away the little, handy Brinsea hatcher, you got me thinking about how much fun it would be to buy so me "special" eggs and give it a go. I have had only 3 hatches, two were the "old fashioned" way, with broody hens, and another I used my Vet lab incubator. That was challenging, but moderately successful.
