It's not a precise function, Barbara. 22 weeks is still considered young. They will get there in their own time.

Question Kathy: My silkies are laying eggs. But my 6 other girls haven't yet….they are 22 weeks as of today. I thought hens lay eggs between the ages of 18 to 21 weeks.

I've been reading about Koop Klean. I thought sure someone would carry it in our area since we're located in a relatively agri-area of Ohio. No one yet though. My 14 girls move out to their completed coop (thank you husband) in about a week. Would love to start them off with this. But you also supplied me with wonderful sand info–so I'm good either way!
